Whether collaborating directly with Southern California homeowners or partnering with premier architects and landscape designers, Coastal Pergolas brings 30+ years of structural expertise to every build. We design and handcraft legacy timber, steel, and architectural aluminum structures engineered specifically to elevate Southern California’s finest residences. From the initial design consultation and site assessment to a completed build is roughly 10 weeks, if going through the entire engineering and permitting process. For smaller projects where permits are not necessary, a typical build is completed between 6-8 weeks from design approval.

1. ARCHITECTURAL CONCEPTS & DESIGN
Every structure begins with an in-depth alignment of your aesthetic goals, spatial constraints, and local HOA requirements.

Tailored Proposals: Following your consultation, we deliver a comprehensive project blueprint and detailed investment proposal.

Digital Renderings: To ensure absolute visual harmony with your estate, our team creates custom, in-house 3D digital renderings upon request so you can preview the structure against your home before a single beam is cut.
2. MASTER SHOP FABRICATION
We do not figure things out on your property. To minimize disruption to your home, the majority of the craftsmanship happens within our specialized central facility.

Hand-Finished Artistry: For our timber structures, every individual beam is gently hand-sanded to a furniture-grade finish.

Precision Joinery: We pre-fit all structural joints in-shop prior to arriving on-site. This rigorous quality-control step guarantees an optimal, seamless fit and decades of structural integrity.
3. MARINE-GRADE PRESERVATION & ON-SITE BUILD
The Southern California coast offers stunning views but delivers brutal environments. Our final phase is entirely dedicated to fortifying your investment against intense UV rays and corrosive salt air.

Advanced Sealants: We apply premium, long-lasting UV-reflective sealants tailored to look beautiful and combat wood weathering (with custom color-matching available).

WUI Approved Fire-Resistant Heavy Timbers: Every structure is designed and built using 6x6 or larger posts, black corrosion-resistant fasteners and architectural Simpson Strong-Tie hardware. Engineered and State approved!

Optional Enhancements: For year-round utility, we offer integrated precision-built fire-resistant decking platforms and sleek, high-end polycarbonate pergola roofs to protect your outdoor living space from rain without sacrificing natural light.

High-End Craftsmanship
For our custom-built FIRE-RESISTANT heavy timber pergolas (WUI Approved), we chamfer cut 45 degree detail on the edges of all your pergola posts, beams, and rafters with a high-power router and premium router bits for a smooth finished look. For post-to-beam connections, we notch the beam into the posts for an exceptional look and superior connection! The strongest hardware is used throughout the build: custom-welded steel post bases and Simpson Strong-Tie timber screws.
